A Positive New Year!! (from Cobalt's EU/CIS Team)

07/01/2009

We would like to welcome you back to the office and hope you have had a relaxing and festive time over Christmas and New Year.

There is naturally some apprehension about 2009 across all industries and all markets.  It is likely that the major European economies will sink further into recession, impacting significantly on smaller and emerging markets, for at least the first Quarter of this year.  However, we are quietly positive that fortunes and attitudes will begin changing with the combination of government stimulus; property price adjustments and ‘distressed’ assets coming to market - providing motivation to the investment market; and the closure of what was a turbulent 2008 allowing property professionals to ‘start again’ and look forward in a positive and fresh manner once they have returned from their Christmas/New Year holidays.

For the EU and CIS team at Cobalt Recruitment, 2008 was an important year.  Whilst these regions had always been a major part of our coverage, our ability to recruit (through executive search, contingency and advertised selection methods) has been significantly bolstered through the opening of our Berlin Office and recruiting senior consultants in Germany, Central and Eastern Europe and Russia.  With experienced and native property recruiters joining these regional teams, we have been able to enhance the service we provide to our traditional UK and US client base, and increasingly work with domestic clients in all countries within the EU and CIS.  There were also developments in our Middle East and the Asia Pacific business lines: the Abu Dhabi office is opening in February 2009 and our Sydney team continues to make strides in the AsiaPac market.

We are looking forward to taking advantage of our increasing ability to service property consultancies and investors/developers throughout the market and across all business lines.  With a financial and economic climate that is in a process of re-alignment, Cobalt is looking confidently at 2009 and will be in contact with you to discuss how we can assist over the coming year.

We wish you a positive start to 2009.
