2nd place in The Sunday Times top 100 Awards

Cobalt has managed to top last year’s result and were placed 2nd overall in the UK in The Sunday Times Best Small Companies to work for 2009 awards! Despite the challenges facing companies this year, no fewer than 565 small companies sought a place in the elite top 100 which is complied from the views of employees and the policies of their employers.
Best Companies to Work for identifies best practice defined by performance in eight key indicators of workplace engagement, covering staff options on their leadership, manager, immediate colleagues, pay and benefits, wellbeing, the firm’s willingness to give something back, people’s personal development and overall sense of affiliation with their employers.
The Results
Cobalt Recruitment seemed to have found the magic formula between work and play and continues to make a mark in the industry despite current adversity within the marketplace.
At Cobalt Recruitment employees are excited about their future with 85% positive result. 89% of the staff are inspired by the Directors with 88% feeling that their Senior Managers truly live to the values of the organisation.
Cobalt was founded in 2001 by Timothy Rowe and Adam Walker, who are joint managing directors and continue to sit with the staff, working among the employees and are fully involved within the business. They are always on hand to offer advice or help with problems. Employees gave them a 93% positive score ranking Cobalt fifth and which show staff are confident in the skills of the senior managers.
Cobalt’s staff are the most satisfied in their work and home life balance and was voted top in this category with 89%. When work gets too much, employees can challenge a colleague to a game of Wii, take advantage of the newly introduced flexi time and can utilise the early finish on a Friday afternoon with a drink at the pub.
James Wakefield who has been with Cobalt since 2007 says Here, I play Tim on the Wii. Yes, I work for Tim and Adam, but more than that, I work with them.
Employees say they aren’t under too much pressure to concentrate (86%) and say that deadlines are not unrealistic (89%). At Cobalt Team mates go out their way for each other and there is a strong sense of family at 91% ranking Cobalt second in this category.
