An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Centre Manager to take the helm at Sylvia Park, New Zealand’s preeminent shopping centre, owned and managed by Kiwi Property.

Sylvia Park is a multi-award-winning retail destination, offering an outstanding shopping experience and quality retail space. The centre is anchored by The Warehouse, Hoyts Cinemas, PAK’nSAVE and Countdown, along with an extensive range of quality specialty tenancies, including New Zealand’s first ever stores for international fashion chains H&M and Zara. It is accompanied by the adjacent Sylvia Park Lifestyle precinct, which is a large format retail centre anchored by Freedom, Spotlight and Torpedo7.
Kiwi Property is currently working through a bold new vision for the centre, with construction works already underway for a new $80 million office tower on the site and preliminary planning under investigation for a potential expansion of the retail centre itself.
The company is now recruiting for an experienced Centre Manager. The role will be based on-site at Sylvia Park, which is within 20 minutes’ drive to 80% of all Aucklanders. Leading the centre management team and reporting to the Manager – Shopping Centres, you will be accountable for the performance of multiple business functions involved in the management of the Centre and neighbouring assets. You will provide a business unit focus on a day-to-day basis and be accountable for the short-term performance of the Centre, and the achievement of the relevant KPIs in the centre’s Strategic Asset Plan. This role covers Sylvia Park shopping centre, the Sylvia Park Lifestyle and other adjoining properties.
Broadly, your key accountabilities will include:
- strategic planning, translating strategy into action through measurable objectives
- the integration of an annual budget, marketing plan and reporting
- optimisation of tenancy mix in conjunction with the leasing team
- security and safety of the centre and its services
- marketing and public relations
- policy and standard framework, budgeting, business case and expenditure, and
- stakeholder relationships, retailer advisory, and people management.
The ideal candidate
Just like the rest of the team at Kiwi Property, you will have an eye for detail, a passion for excellence and lead by example. You will have graduated with a property degree with at least five years’ experience working in a management role in the property industry or retail sector. You will have excellent leadership experience, people management and lease management skills. Previous shopping centre experience is preferred; most importantly you will be a team player. This will be a varied, busy role so you will need to have the ability to multitask and juggle priorities, think on your feet and be able to adapt to change.
