About the Role

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate GL activity across assigned properties and entities, including coding, classification, and allocation
  • Lead the monthly close cycle: reconciliations, accruals, intercompany entries, variance analysis, and explanations for material fluctuations
  • Identify close blockers early and drive resolution
  • Partner with AP to ensure accurate coding, period-end cutoffs, and timely accruals
  • Coordinate with property management on rent roll alignment, move-in/move-out impacts, utility billing, and operational accounting items
  • Contribute to investor reporting packages with accurate financials, tie-outs, and supporting schedules
  • Maintain capital account accuracy: contributions, distributions, fees, equity activity, and ownership changes
  • Monitor portfolio cash balances and coordinate funding, disbursements, reserves, and debt service
  • Manage escrow administration, replacement reserve tracking, and lender covenant reporting

 

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA required)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in real estate or property management (multi-entity structures, reserves, lender requirements preferred)
  • 2+ years of public accounting experience
  • Strong technical foundation: balance sheet reconciliations, accrual accounting, and financial statement preparation
  • Experience with Yardi or similar property management accounting systems
  • Cross-functional collaborator comfortable working across AP, operations, and finance leadership
  • High attention to detail and an ownership mindset: you follow through, flag issues early, and solve problems
