Property Accountant

Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly cash-basis accounting cycle and review property financial statements for accuracy.
• Review cash receipts, disbursements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and coding.
• Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including invoice review, tenant balances, unapplied cash, credits, and account research.
• Review rent charges, lease terms, amendments, recoveries, taxes, insurance, utilities, and other tenant billings for accuracy.
• Prepare and review annual CAM, real estate tax, insurance, and other tenant recovery reconciliations.
• Assist with annual property budgets, forecasts, and budget-to-actual variance review.
• Support year-end close, tax preparation, 1099 reporting, property tax schedules, and external accountant requests.
• Work with Property Management, Leasing, and Finance to research and resolve property and tenant accounting issues.
• Maintain organized accounting records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with property transitions, acquisitions, dispositions, and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
• 2-5 years of accounting experience; commercial real estate or retail property accounting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cash-basis accounting, tenant billing, CAM reconciliations, and property budgeting.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.
• Yardi, MRI, or similar real estate accounting system experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines.
