Site Safety Manager

Position Summary

The Site Safety Manager is responsible for implementing and enforcing all health and safety policies on active construction projects. This role ensures compliance with federal OSHA standards and applicable New York State safety requirements, while promoting a proactive safety culture across all site activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce all site-specific safety programs and company safety policies
  • Conduct safety orientations for all site personnel and subcontractors
  • Perform daily site inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA and project safety standards
  • Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions, including modification or removal of unsafe equipment or conditions
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations; complete all required reports and documentation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records and logs
  • Conduct toolbox talks and ongoing safety training
  • Monitor use of PPE and safe work practices across all trades
  • Issue corrective actions when safety procedures are not followed
  • Communicate hazards related to chemicals, equipment, and site conditions to all personnel
  • Collaborate with project management and field staff to proactively mitigate risk

Required Qualifications

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (required)
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certifications
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926) and applicable New York State safety requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to identify hazards and implement effective corrective actions
  • Working knowledge of construction operations, methods, and sequencing
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to job sites as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) certification or ability to obtain within 2 years
  • OSHA 500 (Trainer) certification
  • Fall Protection, Scaffold Competent Person, or similar safety training
  • Experience with commercial, institutional, or occupied renovation projects

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Safety, or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of construction safety experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and field experience will be considered
