About the Role
Warehouse / Shop Manager
We are a well-established, NYC-based mechanical and HVAC services contractor looking for a sharp, self-starting Warehouse and Shop Manager to take full ownership of our warehouse and shop operations. This is a modernization role - you'll be walking into an operation that needs a strong leader to build structure, implement systems, and raise the bar across the board.
If you've built out a warehouse inventory system from scratch, managed a team of hands-on technicians and drivers, and thrive in a fast-paced, blue-collar environment where no two days are the same - we want to hear from you.
What You'll Own
- Full operational oversight of our warehouse and shop facilities across three departments: Installations, Service, and Boiler Repair
- Design and implement a new ERP-based inventory system from the ground up - SKUs, barcodes, delivery tracking, shipments, and stock levels
- Manage a team of 2-3 direct reports including a driver; oversee daily opening and closing of the facility
- Coordinate vendors, purchasing, and supply chain logistics across all departments
- Oversee vehicle fleet maintenance, repair, and in-vehicle inventory management
- Facilities management: utilities, HVAC vendors, maintenance, snow and garbage removal
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure full compliance with PPE, fire safety, and emergency preparedness standards
- Analyze daily product and supply levels to anticipate shortages and prevent disruptions
- Physically work alongside the team when needed - this is a hands-on role
What We're Looking For
- Proven warehouse or shop management experience in a hands-on operational environment
- Must have implemented an ERP or inventory system with SKUs and barcode scanning - this is non-negotiable
- Strong, self-starting leadership - you don't wait to be told what to do
- Experience managing vendor relationships and purchasing
- Comfortable working in a physical environment: lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, aerial lift work
- Background in HVAC, mechanical, trades, or industrial/distribution environments a strong plus
- Experience managing drivers and fleet vehicles a plus
- Forklift certified or willing to become certified
- Familiarity with BuildOps, Asana, or similar operations/PM tools a plus
Schedule & Compensation
- Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 depending on experience
- Full-time, in-person role based in Downtown Manhattan
- The shop operates early morning through end of day - you'll set the tone and manage the team across the full operational window
- Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off
Why This Role
This isn't a role where you're handed a playbook. You'll be the person writing it. We're a company that moves fast, values initiative, and rewards people who take real ownership. If you're looking for a role where you can make a visible, lasting impact on how an operation runs - this is it.
