Title: Estimator

Location: Manhattan, NY

Compensation: $115,000 - $140,000 Base + Bonus + Benefits

Our client is a full service general construction firm, specializing in commercial and residential projects. Their extensive portfolio consists of ground up new construction and interior-fitouts ranging from $1M to $50M. They are seeking a talented Estimator to help them with a variety or professional estimating duties relayed to developing estimates and procuring work at their office in Manhattan, NY.

The Role:

  • This position is responsible for preparing cost estimates for construction projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining the price of a product or service. May specialize according to service performed or type of product manufactured.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs
    • To determine the accurate scope of work
    • Organize the quantities with unit pricing in the production of an estimate
  • Review and estimate/budget scope of work based on drawing & construction documents
  • Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors
    • By specifying materials
    • Identifying qualified subcontractors
    • Negotiating price
  • Calculating

    • Labor
    • Material
    • All other costs associated with a project
  • Create and submit proposals to Clients within the specified timeframe

  • Managing and prioritizing multiple estimates/projects

  • Prepare and issue CO's and RFI's based on construction drawings

  • Creating and giving presentations to the Clients & Client Reps

  • Prepare and maintain AIA contracts and contract documentation

  • Create and execute sub-contracts

  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors

  • Building full conceptual cost estimates from architectural sketches/schematics

  • Experience in developing and implementing value engineering solutions to drive down project costs for the Owner while maintaining a high level of construction quality

  • Must be able to confidently negotiate throughout the bidding process

The Person:

  • 5+ years of estimator experience in the construction industry
  • Commercial experience is a plus
