A growing not-for-profit in Midtown wants to add a Grant Accountant to their team immediately. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing all State and Federal Grants, processing reimbursements, and billing the appropriate agencies.

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Maintain grants within Sage Intacct to ensure the proper accounting for and reporting of grants, including monitoring and assisting with tracking, reporting, and subsequent closing of multi-year grants.

  • Prepare/review all accounting entries and budget transfers related to grants for proper coding, allowability, and reasonableness within the grant's scope.

  • Prepare/review and submit requests for funds for all grants. Ensure all requested revenue is received and recorded appropriately.

  • Help prepare grant budget applications for all grants by working directly with the program and development teams.

  • Perform monthly reconciliation on grant accounts and work with program coordinators to review their spending and recommend any budget revisions as needed.

  • Ensure proper account/budget coding, as well as compliance with federal, state and private grant regulations in a timely manner in compliance with government and private grant requirements.

  • Develop and maintain appropriate tracking devices (i.e. spreadsheets) to assist in the monitoring and reporting of grant accounting activities.

  • Prepare and reconcile the Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA). Interact with outside auditors and provide information, including work papers, schedules and access to accounting records for federal, state, and private grants as required. Research, respond and clarify questions from auditors and internal stakeholders.

  • Develop an expertise in the financial and accounting compliance aspects of federal, state, and private financial assistance programs. Attend all required and relevant fiscal training related to grants and communicate any changes with appropriate personnel.

  • Propose/write/maintain policies and procedures related to all grants based on the knowledge gained.

  • Assist in interpreting federal requirements and granting agency guidelines and ensure all stakeholders are properly trained on fiscal policies.

  • Manage and maintain a strict deadline to close the financial activities of the month, including the preparation and analysis of the monthly balance sheet, statement of activities, and cash flow forecasts

  • Prepare and/or review monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation of all accounts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred. Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field and 3+ years' additional relevant experience may be substituted.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in finance and accounting, nonprofit experience highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls, not-for-profit accounting, and experience with federal and private grants preferred.

  • Knowledge of accounting systems; experience with Sage Intacct a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders across the organization

The Fair market Assumption for this role's base salary is between $80000 and $90000 annually.

The above salary range represents Cobalt's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is one part of the total rewards package this client provides for employees.
