Remuneration: 44,000 - 56,000 per annum + excellent benefits including defined contribution pension, 25 days holiday etc
The opportunity has arisen for an attentive Cost Manager to work on one of the largest projects in the northern hemisphere - a multi-billion pound rail project.
As Cost Manager, you will be acting as a key part of a small team supporting the project delivery of the programme. This position reports to the Head of Project Controls, and you will be working closely with the Change Manager to ensure programme cost changes are accurately reflected in Project Controls systems.
This opportunity would suit a Cost Engineer who is looking to step up into a Cost Manager role. Our client would be equally happy to consider an established Cost Manager who is looking for a change.
The role will give you significant exposure to a major programme of infrastructure work and an insight into central Government.
What you will be doing
-Managing the overall budget - re-forecasting, providing -comparative analysis, and impacts on original budgets.
-Ensuring resource requirements are captured to support future business requirements
-Assisting in preparation of corporate performance reports to enable decision making.
-Providing detailed summary analysis, including: root cause of variance against cost budgets, viability and variance of cost forecasts and corrective action recommendations.
-Report to the Head of Project Controls on the quality of cost proposals submitted for inclusion against baseline.
-Providing guidance to various stakeholders.
-Ensure costs of approved programme changes are correctly attributed in PRISM. Incorporating these into planned schedules of activity, cost models, and estimates, and Work Breakdown Structure.
-Represent the function at review meetings. - monitoring supplier performance.
-Support ongoing development of the cost process, ensuring processes are fit for purpose.
What you will need
-Evidence of project controls reporting/ analysis in a similar role
-Designing and maintaining Project Control related reports
-Experience providing guidance and support to colleagues in different disciplines
-Relationship development/ management skills
-Familiarity with cost management systems (Preferably PRISM)
-Awareness of all aspects of cost management within a project life-cycle
-Experience on large scale projects; including work breakdown, cost breakdown.
-Understanding of the impact of delivery structures and their impact on change management.
-Proven track record of working on high profile, public sector or transport initiatives.
