Location: South West
Remuneration: circa 55,0000 per annum plus benefits to include car allowance or company car, strong defined contribution pension, 26 days holiday (increasing with service), private medical cover etc
An international Main Contractor is seeking to appoint a Health & Safety Manager to a key project in the South West.
Working with an extremely prestigious and strategic client, this role will find you being responsible for the onsite management and coordination of all project related health, safety and environmental standards and requirements.
You will ensure full compliance with all the necessary standards, including Employers, and UK/EU Legislation. You will be the go-to for the project delivery team and provide advice, guidance and support to ensure that you meet the requirements of the contract.
This project sits in an extremely high assurance environment. It is anticipated that to be successful in this role you will have gained experience in working on Civil Engineering or Infrastructure projects such as Rail or Energy. You will also need to have demonstrable experience in managing safety on a Construction project for a Main Contractor. It would be extremely beneficial if you held IOSH and NEBOSH certification.
This is a phased project and will provide you with a fixed location and many years of certain and secure work.
Key responsibilities will include:
-Ensure the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management on the project.
-Ensure compliance with Legislation, ACOP`s and latest guidance relating to safety, health and the environment.
-Liaise with external third-party management system certification bodies, ensuring an ongoing good relationship and the best cost-effective solutions
-Supporting the project team in creating, updating and implementing the construction phase health and safety plan including all supporting document in relation to fire, traffic, OH etc.
-Supporting the project team in creating, updating and implementing the Project Environmental Management Plan including the Site Waste Management plan.
-Actively promote a strong health and safety culture.
-Ensure COSHH assessments for all hazardous substances brought onto site are maintained as part of the COSHH stock inventory.
-Ensure all staff and sub-contractors have taken appropriate inductions in line with the Principal contractor and site requirements.
-Participate in the monthly SHE consultation meetings and regular supply chain briefings.
-Develop and ensure the effective implementation of business H&S improvement plan.
-Develop the management system to a standard that meets legal compliance and, SO14001: 2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007, including processes that create ongoing continuous improvement.
