An opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an award winning privately owned and growing niche Contractor.
This role would suit an aspiring Quantity Surveyor who is looking to step up into a Senior position and take on the commercial administration of our Client's London and South East region. Equally, if you are an established Senior Quantity Surveyor who is perhaps disillusioned by their corporate Contracting environment then this opportunity would definitely suit.
Working under the NEC suite of contracts, you will handle a turnover of approximately £10 - 15m per annum. You will operate as both a Principal Contractor and Specialist Subcontractor on projects and two key frameworks.
This role will provide you with the following:
-Complete commercial control across all projects, working from inception to completion
-Full empowerment and trust to advise the operations teams on all commercial decisions
-An active involvement in pre-contract, estimating and work winning phases
-Extensive client interface and management
-The responsibility to review contracts and advise on risk and opportunity
-Play a key role in assisting in growing the business, with opportunity to recruit and grow your own team in line with growth
-Immediate responsibility for mentoring and developing a Graduate Quantity Surveyor

Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
-Analysis of tender allowances
-The measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings), for valuations, variations and final accounts
-Agreement of valuation dates and preparing, submitting and agreement of interim valuations in accordance with those dates
-Administering and/or advising on Main Contract and Subcontract conditions
-Subcontract and Design Procurement
-Subcontract payments, variations and final accounts
-Preparation of cost to complete
-Submission of Cost Value Reconciliations
-Cash management and maximisation
-Provision of standard reports
-Cash Flow and Turnover forecast
-Internal Valuations/CVRs and subcontract liability reports
To succeed as a Quantity Surveyor, it is anticipated that you:
-Hold a qualification in in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (HNC / HND / Degree or equivilant) with demonstrable post graduate experience gained working in the Civil Engineering Contractor sector in the UK
-Ideally have knowledge of Earthworks, Piling or Utilities works
-Have good, practical experience of administering projects under the NEC form of contract
-Can constructively challenge internal and external stakeholders
-Identify commercial opportunities
-Maximise value, minimise cost
