Position: Technical Design Manager
Location: Surrey or London
Remuneration: 38,000 - 55,000 per annum with strong benefits including 26 days holiday, dc pension, private medical cover, company car or car allowance
Due to a number of significant project wins, a leading privately-owned Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking to strengthen its technical engineering capabilities by attracting an Engineer to the position of Technical Design Manager.
This position will find you responsible as technical lead, supporting across a number of projects and working closely with Project Managers. You will develop innovative engineering solutions that meet or exceed the required quality, programme, cost and safety standards of these projects.

What you'll be doing?
-Manage external Designers working on different design and construction projects to meet key programme deliverables within Rail and / or Highways projects
-Be involved in both permanent works design and temporary works design
-Manage design processes during tenders and lead the development of Engineered solutions to provide a competitive advantage to winning work
-Have line management responsibility for other members of the Engineering Team and act as a Client Manager in liaison with Clients, throughout the Engineering Life Cycle of the project
-Explore innovative construction solutions and be able to generate value managed engineering solutions
What you'll need?
-Be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
-Be chartered, or near chartered with the ICE or IStructE. Happy to consider individuals who are either TechEng or IEng as well.
-Hold demonstrable experience in developing effective engineering solutions in a project environment
-Be competent in using Word, Excel and other software requirements, to include programming
-Have good knowledge of construction techniques, CDM regulations, design standards and Eurocodes
