Employment lawyer | Intermediate level

Ref: JN -052018-61074
Auckland, Auckland Central
Legal, Solicitors
25th May 2018
Job Type

This position involves working alongside an award winning Barrister as their 2IC in the employment law area. No two days will be the same and you'll be involved in a range of work including providing employment law advice, representing clients in relation to personal grievance claims, redundancies/restructures, negotiating exit packages and navigating clients through disciplinary investigations.

This is a chance to learn from a Barrister that has a strong litigation background with a focus on employment law issues. You'll work in a collaborative close-knit team environment where the other legal staff are down to earth and have a good sense of humour.

You will have:

  • 2.5+ years PQE in employment law (having mixed employment law and general litigation experience is fine);
  • Good academics as our client is looking for a smart, switched on lawyer;
  • A passion for pursuing a career as an employment law barrister.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Perhaps you're in the employment law team of a large firm and, while you've had exposure to good work, you haven't been able to get the advocacy and court work experience you're looking for. Likewise, you might be from a smaller practice doing a mix of employment law and litigation work and you'd now really like to hone your skills in the employment law area with 360 degree involvement in the work you do.

This is a rare opportunity to get regulary hands on exposure to representing clients in mediations, the ERA, Employment Court and even the Court of Appeal.

NZ qualified lawyers with employment law experience and returning from the UK are of interest also
