Legal Counsel | Property
- Auckland, Auckland Central
- Legal, In-house Legal
- 19th September 2018
- Job Type
A rare opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join this dynamic and growing commercial property development organisation on new build projects that transform NZ's landscape. If you've been looking for an opportunity to leverage your commercial property / commercial expertise in an interesting in-house position, then this could be the opportunity for you.
In this role you'll have direct access to key decision makers (Directors and the CEO) in working on commercial property projects and helping influence outcomes and drive the business forward. You'll work within a small legal team in carrying out investigations into new sites, negotiating and drafting agreements, commercial leasing matters, general commercial and corporate governance matters as well as other ad hoc tasks. No two days will be the same and would suit someone that has a true passion for working for a developer organisation that is well-established in the market and known for its innovative buildings.
The culture of the business is relatively informal and not overly corporate/structured. You'll be well supported by senior legal counsel in this role. The people of the organisation hold a wealth of knowledge about the industry and the organisation has good benefits for its staff.
Ideally you will be someone with:
- 3+ years experience in property law work (you'll have some commercial property development experience);
- Experience gained within a well regarded commercial property team - if you have gained secondment or in-house experience, that would be considered a bonus but is not a must have;
- Commercial nous and the ability to problem solve and think pragmatically; and
- An ability to communicate well with stakeholders at all levels.
Perhaps you're a Solicitor or Senior Solicitor in a top tier or boutique commercial property firm and you're looking for the chance to move in-house within the sector so you can work closely within a high performing business; likewise you might be working in-house but would like to utilise your skillset in a private sector development organisation where you'll be immersed in meaty and interesting projects. Whichever the case, make a confidential enquiry with us to discover if this is the next role for you.
