Cobalt Recruitment is committed to supporting our communities, the environment and the people who work for and represent our organisation. Within the UK, we recently elected our local charity partner Centrepoint.
Centrepoint’s aim is to give homeless young people a future; they provide shelter not just in the short term but on a longer term basis whilst they turn their lives around. Their learning team gives young people information, advice and guidance on education and employment helping them to gain qualifications and getting them ready for life in the work place. Centrepoint also offers every young person health assessments on joining and support for those with mental or physical health problems.
We chose Centrepoint as homelessness is prevalent in Soho and in addition to fundraising, we can directly assist these young people to equip them with interview skills to help them get back into work and make a difference to their lives.
With the help of Cobalt’s fundraising committee who take responsibility for coordinating fundraising throughout the year, we kicked off our fundraising efforts. A couple of our talented colleagues were offering Swedish & Deep Tissue massages for a fee, and another is holding weekly yoga classes. We ditched the formal dress code in the office, made some tasty treats for a bake sale and held a raffle for a half day annual leave.
As well as offering financial support, some of our consultants will be passing on their expertise and helping some of the young people at Centrepoint with CV writing and interview skills equipping them with the knowledge they need to access employment or apprenticeship opportunities.
