Investment Analyst jobs

At Cobalt, we have a highly experienced real estate team, with extensive experience in the real estate sector. Our consultants can highlight the top candidates from large groups of professionals. As an international recruitment agency, we source professionals from all over the world and our relationships have grown immensely. We pride ourselves on being fast-moving and agile as a company and specialise in providing focused guidance and long-lasting recruitment solutions.

Investment Analysts
Typically, Investment Analysts are placed into large property funds where a very high number of property investments are required each year – therefore, a high number of individuals are required to underwrite transactions. These types of professionals can also be found within boutique businesses such as family offices, as Investment Analysts are essential for any business where properties are being purchased.

In family offices, an Investment Analyst creates reports for a smaller pool of investors the firm will know directly, or even a single wealthy individual affiliated with the firm. This year, we are witnessing a rise in popularity for analysts in smaller property investment companies that are specialising in singular, less saturated asset classes – namely logistics across rural Europe or care homes across the UK. This analyst typically underwrites a large number of purchases at a lower value.

We are looking for Investment Analysts with a strong background in finance, as it’s essential that an Investment Analyst understands the financial market. Also, we are particularly interested in those with the ability to produce an Excel cash flow designed to calculate the value of a purchase. Often, there is an Excel test during the interview stage.

We expect professionals to have an existing knowledge of real estate, as most candidates come from real estate lending teams within investment banks. However, they might be Valuation Surveyors or Investment Agents within Property Consultancies.

The most typical career path for an Investment Analyst would be a move into Investment Management. Here, the professional will be responsible for finding and purchasing properties themselves, often with analysts working for them.
