How did you get into recruitment?
I got into recruitment more by chance than by design having met Adam Walker, one of our Founders, at a BBQ back in 2005. After a long and interesting conversation about careers and aspirations, it became apparent that recruitment could offer me a meaningful and challenging career, and I was invited in for an interview in London. Nearly 11 years later the rest is history!
Which aspects of your role do you enjoy the most?
Having previously been an emergency response Police Officer I had experience in dealing with people from all walks of life on an hourly basis. This human contact and interaction has always interested me and recruitment continues to offer this. I enjoy meeting with people (both clients and candidates) to understand their jobs, companies and the wider market. It is in these meetings that I learn the most and further my knowledge and understanding. I also like the fact that recruitment is one of the few meritocratic businesses to work in. Invariably the harder and smarter workers get the best rewards.
Is there an element of your role that you find the most challenging?
Real estate is such a quick and ever-changing industry to recruit for so we must always be on top of our game and pushing the boundaries of our knowledge.
