Civil Engineer, Site Development & Land Use
Location: South Plainfield, NJ (in-person, headquarters office)
Job Type: Full-time, in-person

Pay: $65,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience
A multidisciplinary civil engineering, surveying, and construction management firm serving clients across New Jersey and the New York metro area is hiring a Civil Engineer to support its site/civil design and land development practice. You'll assist with permitting, planning, and design across stormwater management, grading and drainage, utility design, and construction administration, and get hands-on with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings, engineering calculations, and site inspections. This is an in-person, career-track role at a growing firm with real room to advance.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of project deliverables, including AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings, engineering calculations, reports, and technical specifications
- Support permit acquisition, land development planning and design, stormwater management, grading and drainage design, and utility design
- Perform periodic construction site inspections, including contract conformance inspections, SWPPP inspections, and existing site conditions assessments
- Collaborate with engineers and surveyors on multi-discipline project teams
- Communicate directly with clients, project teams, and contractors throughout design and construction
- Manage time, scheduling, and priorities across multiple active projects
Required Qualifications
- S. in Civil Engineering
- 2+ years of relevant stormwater and site development design, construction, and permitting experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Familiarity with local ordinance codes and state stormwater management design manuals
- Familiarity with municipal permitting processes
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
- M.S. in Civil Engineering
