About the Role
Construction Safety Manager
Position Summary
The Site Safety Manager is responsible for implementing and enforcing all health and safety policies on active construction projects. This role ensures compliance with federal OSHA standards and applicable New York State safety requirements, while promoting a proactive safety culture across all site activities.
Responsibilities:
- Enforce all safety efforts on the project
- Provide Safety Orientations to all personnel
- Makes recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any company equipment, facilities, or machinery that is hazardous to employee safety or health
- Daily walkthroughs on site to ensure safety compliance being upheld
- Investigate all accidents/near misses and complete all paperwork required
- Maintain all safety related documentation
- Alert managers and employees to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and any other hazardous substances in the workplace
- Demonstrate elements of leadership from within, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to build teams and professional relationships
Required skills:
- Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification a plus
- Completed OSHA 30-hour training and maintain current First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certifications
- Knowledgeable of Federal, State, and local Environmental Health & Safety regulations
- Working knowledge and consistent application of safety and environmental principles and techniques
- Ability to identify known and potential safety related exposures and lead implementation of corrective actions
- Familiar with general construction operations
- Professional verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation delivery skills
- Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Analytical thinking, good judgment, and complex problem-solving skills
- Travel required, access to reliable transportation required
Education & Experience:
- 5+ years of related construction safety experience
- Must have 30HR OSHA
- Must have 4 hour Scaffold,
- Must have 8 hour Fall Prevention
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, or related field of study a plus
- Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification a plus
