Project Accountant I

Responsibilities

• Manage project accounting for multiple active construction projects.
• Track job costs, budgets, commitments, and project financial performance.
• Prepare monthly owner billings, requisitions, and supporting documentation.
• Process subcontractor payment applications, invoices, and change orders.
• Review contracts, schedules of values, and funding requirements to ensure compliance.
• Maintain project budgets and accounting records within the ERP system.
• Prepare budget-to-actual analyses, cash flow projections, and project financial reports.
• Perform monthly reconciliations, including project accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank accounts, and job cost reports.
• Identify and communicate budget variances, billing discrepancies, and project risks.
• Partner closely with project managers, project executives, and finance leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 2-5 years of accounting experience, ideally within construction, project, or job cost accounting.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and project financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with construction accounting or project management software (Sage Intacct, Procore, or similar) is a plus.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
