Superintendent - Heavy Civil Construction

Job Title: Civil Superintendent

Location: Newark, NJ

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale heavy civil infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for the successful execution of construction activities in compliance with design specifications, budget constraints, and schedule requirements. The Superintendent plays a key leadership role in field planning, subcontractor coordination, and on-site construction supervision to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all field construction activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with design documents, project schedule, and budget.
• Manage and coordinate daily on-site operations, including scheduling, labor supervision, and subcontractor oversight.
• Ensure compliance with contract documents, industry standards, and project specifications.
• Optimize the use of labor, materials, and equipment to maximize project efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance, including interpretation of construction drawings and recommending methods, materials, and equipment.
• Collaborate with project management to develop and implement project schedules, logistics plans, and procedural standards.
• Enforce and support site-specific safety plans and company-wide safety initiatives.
• Serve as the primary liaison with on-site owner representatives and maintain strong working relationships with all project stakeholders.
• Execute additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of progressive field experience in large-scale ($200M+) heavy civil infrastructure projects.
• Minimum 5 years of transit-oriented construction (piling, concrete, structural steel).
• Experience working with municipal, state, and federal agencies
• Proficient in interpreting construction documents, specifications, and schedules.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, (or similiar programs)
• OSHA Certification and First Aid Certification required.
