About the Role

Superintendent - Heavy Civil Construction

Location: New York, NY


Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Superintendent to oversee field operations on large-scale infrastructure and building projects. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day construction activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with contract documents, schedules, and budgets. You'll be a critical member of our on-site team, directly contributing to the successful delivery of projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all on-site construction efforts, ensuring adherence to design specifications, budgetary constraints, and project schedules.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee field operations, including scheduling, subcontractor performance, and material/equipment logistics.
  • Ensure craft labor and subcontractors comply with contract documents, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Interpret drawings, provide technical direction, and recommend construction methods, means, and equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with project management to develop and implement site logistics plans, construction schedules, work plans, and quality control procedures.
  • Enforce and support the Site-Specific Safety Plan and ensure a culture of safety on site.
  • Act as a key liaison with on-site Owner representatives and stakeholders.
  • Complete additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Project Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience:
    • 10 years of field supervisory experience, with at least 5 years on complex heavy civil or building projects valued at $200 million+.
    • Proven experience in structural construction including deep foundations, concrete, and structural steel.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. construction methods, codes, standards, and best practices.
    • Experience with public agency projects (City, State, Federal clients).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in MS Office, Procore, Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, (or similar software)
    • Strong understanding of contract management and experience working with local trade organizations.
  • Certifications:
    • OSHA 30-hour Certification required.
    • First Aid/CPR Certification required.
