Controller

National insurance group is seeking a controller to work on-site in Livingston, New Jersey.

Primary responsibilities:

· Works with the owner and Family Office CFO, providing required financial statements and analyses for both internal and external reporting.

· Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

· Complies with local, state, and federal government requirements on a timely basis.

· Oversees Agency and Employee licensing status and requirements.

· Records cash and other bank activity daily; prepares billing and various financial analyses as directed.

· Prepares all monthly balance sheet reconciliations during month-end closings including reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances.

· Investigates and corrects errors or inconsistencies in billings and financial statements.

· Prepares journal entries, analysis and account reconciliations to meet month-end close deadlines.

· Assists in the design and preparation of budgeting & forecasting and other key financial analytical reporting for review by management.

· Assists in any annual or governmental audits as requested.

· Experience in local, state, and government license reporting and filing.

· Ensures financial statements adhere to US GAAP standards.

Required Skills & Abilities

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

· At least 7 years of experience

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA or CPA not required)

· Advanced experience with financial modeling and team performances

· Hands-on experience using business intelligence tools for financial statement compilation, modeling, and dashboard reporting

· Solid understanding of ERP systems - hands on working knowledge is a must.

· Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivots, macros, complex formulas, v-look-up, etc.)

· Excellent analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills

· Track record of driving continuous improvement efforts

· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

· Extremely organized with an ability to multi-task, manage time appropriately, and work within tight deadlines.

· Ability to work in a confidential manner.

· Demonstrated ability to support other departments within the company.

· Experience working in an insurance agency.

· Knowledge of applied EPIC (software)

The fair market assumption for this role is $125k - $165k annually.

The above salary range represents Cobalt's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is one part of the total rewards package this client provides to employees.
