Controller

A business critical controller role has arisen for a rapidly growing Construction company in Queens, NY. Working closely with the CFO, this senior leadership position will assume responsibility for all aspects of the company's accounting operations while being actively involved in the organization's long-term planning.

Job Description:

·As the Controller, you will provide financial analysis and business strategies to senior-level executives regarding finance and accounting.

·Managing the day-to-day accounting and financial functions including but not limited to: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank Reconciliations, Cash Management, performing audits and reconciliations of all General Ledger accounts, project cost accounting and billing, and income & sales tax payments.

·Oversee current accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

·Assess and evaluate the organization's financial performance with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.

·Partnering with Project Managers to monitor project budgets and performance.

·Provide insight and recommendations for the organization's short-term and long-term growth plans.

·Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company's plan for growth and expansion.

·Oversee the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) for the organization.

·Prepare and present monthly financial reports - including monthly balance sheets, profit and loss, forecast vs. budget, and weekly cash flow for each department and division.

·Prepare and evaluate monthly jobs with management in the process schedule.

·Prepare and supply all required information to outside banks, surety, and other 3rd parties.

·Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.

·Communicate with Project Managers, subcontractors, and general contractors regarding ongoing and already completed projects.

Qualification:

·Minimum four years experience as a Controller, preferably in the construction industry.

·Minimum ten years of experience in accounting and finance.

·Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

·Experience managing and developing a strong accounting department team.

·Ability to multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment

·Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills

·Prior experience in establishing and maintaining an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) is a plus

·Knowledge of Sage 100 is a plus

The Fair market Assumption for this role's base salary is between $165,000 and $215,000 annually.

The above salary range represents Cobalt's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is one part of the total rewards package this client provides to employees.
