MEP Chief Estimator

A Chief Estimator position has arisen with a well established Mechanical Contractor and Heating Equipment Service company headquartered in Mount Vernon, Westchester, NY. This is a lead position, which will assume responsibilities for estimating jobs for mechanical, plumbing and HVAC throughout Westchester, NYC and the five boroughs.

Salary: $170,000 - $190,000 base salary + benefits

Responsibilities Include:

• Boiler upgrades/replacements

• Gas conversions

• Water booster/backflow preventers

• AC systems (mini-splits, multi-splits, DOAS) a plus but not required

• Controls

• Reviews all bidding documents (drawings, specifications etc.) to establish a complete understanding of requested scope of work.

• Visit work sites and become familiar with working conditions for estimating purposes.

• Take off all materials and prices, identify subcontractor involvement, solicit subcontractor and/or manufacturer prices and estimate direct field labor.

• Estimates will be prepared and reviewed with the President and identifies any problems that need clarification, qualification or exception.

• Supervise installation crews and oversee job construction.

• Ensure safe working conditions and quality control.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years experience as an estimator

• 8+ years of experience in commercial boilers

• Thorough understanding of boiler systems (both steam and hydronic) and the ability to generate scope of work.

• Ability to review bid documents and come up with VE opportunities

• Thorough understanding of the following as it relates to installation best practices:

• Steel boilers

• Cast iron boilers

• Plumbing

• Electrical

• Controls

• Must have demonstrated success in leadership, safety awareness, good follow-up skills, coaching, and team work
