A newly created Tax Manager role has arisen with a global media & strategic advisory firm in Manhattan, which has experienced extensive growth over the past few years. Working closely with the VP Finance & CFO, this is a key role for the firm, and in addition to assuming tax compliance responsibilities, will also actively be heavily involved on the tax planning and analysis side.

About the Tax Manager role:

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure tax compliance across the U.S, including preparing local tax filings and supporting external tax advisors in preparation of federal and state tax returns, ensuring payments are made timely

  • Ensure the US cash forecast reflects all upcoming tax payments

  • Track revenue by state for market-based purposes

  • Stay up to date on new tax laws (Federal, State & Local) and analyze the effects on the Firm

  • Maintain a schedule reflecting the current US tax liability position and update accordingly with changes to the business

  • Ensure all US legal entities are in good legal standing in their respective states

  • Calculate the US tax provision and any deferred tax asset or liability for purposes of the firm's annual audited financial statements

  • Support the Group tax team with ad hoc projects

  • Build out and manage the tax ledger, including tax depreciation, in our financial system, Microsoft Dynamics

  • Track the status of remote employees and the associated state tax implications

Key requirements:

  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant work experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or equivalent work experience

  • Strong understanding of tax laws and deep knowledge of financial and project management

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion

  • Executive presence and ability to think on your feet

  • Customer-centric focus and partnership skills

  • Ability to multitask and manage in a deadline driven environment

  • Strong PC and Microsoft application skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills a must

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask while remaining collaborative and team-oriented

Compensation: $125,000 - $160,000 base salary + 10- 15% bonus + benefits

The above salary range represents Cobalt's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is one part of the total rewards package this client provides to employees.
