Assistant Controller

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee AP/AR, GL maintenance, account reconciliations, and cash management
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports across project and corporate entities
• Support year-end audit process and coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals
• Track project budgets, construction costs, and contract obligations
• Manage construction loan draws and prepare cash flow projections
• Coordinate with internal development, property management, and external lenders/investors
• Ensure compliance with loan agreements, GAAP, LIHTC, and affordable housing regulations
• Manage property tax filings and state/local tax compliance
• Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting workflows
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of two accounting professionals
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, automate reporting, and streamline procedures

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
• 7+ years of accounting experience, with 3+ in real estate development or property-level accounting
• Proficient with real estate accounting software (Sage, Yardi, MRI, or QuickBooks)
• Strong knowledge of construction loans, JV structures, and tax credit programs
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills

The Fair market Assumption for this role's base salary is between $150,000 and $165,000 annually.
