About the Role
Estimator - Structural and Miscellaneous Steel
Long Island City, NY
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate steel cost estimates for commercial construction projects including schools, office buildings, warehouses, and public infrastructure
- Analyze architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and scope documents to assess material, labor, and equipment needs
- Use digital tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Takeoff, Excel) to perform take-offs and compile bid packages
- Track bid results and assist in pricing strategy discussions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, architects, and stakeholders
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks as needed
- Respond to RFIs, clarify scope, and support negotiations to help win work
- Collaborate with purchasing and project management to support seamless project transitions
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience estimating structural and/or miscellaneous steel projects
- Strong understanding of construction documents, material take-offs, and steel detailing
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Takeoff, and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication, organization, and client relationship skills
