Experience with Workday is essential for this fully remote opportunity that can be based anywhere in the U.S.

About the Payroll Manager Role

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll for the entire organization.
  • Manage payroll workflows to ensure compliance, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Maintain and audit payroll information through data collection, calculation, and entry.
  • Update payroll records to reflect changes in exemptions, deductions, employment status, and departmental transfers.
  • Coordinate with HR to verify employee data and ensure seamless integration of personnel changes.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements, with a focus on automation and efficiency.
  • Prepare payroll reports summarizing earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, and nontaxable wages.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and professionally.
  • Accurately calculate and record commission and bonus accruals in line with company policy.
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll activities and support related accounting functions.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes.
  • Strong understanding of multi-state payroll tax regulations and compliance.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems; proficiency in Workday HRIS required, Sage Intacct strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles and account reconciliation.
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, XLOOKUP, complex formulas).
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field.

The Fair market Assumption for this role's base salary is between $110,000 and $140,000 annually.

The above salary range represents Cobalt's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is one part of the total rewards package this client provides to employees.
