Senior Estimator - Budgeting / Preconstruction
Location: Westchester County, NY
Compensation: $170,000 base + bonus + 401(k) match + ESOP
Overview
We are seeking a senior, experienced Estimator to support front-end budgeting and preconstruction for multifamily development projects. This role is focused on conceptual and early-stage budgeting, not procurement or buyout.
You will work closely with executive leadership and the development team to establish clear, accurate construction budgets early in the process, helping projects move forward efficiently with minimal revisions.
This is a highly visible role with direct access to leadership and long-term growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
Develop conceptual and detailed construction budgets from early site plans and development concepts
Translate incomplete drawings into realistic, defensible budgets ("more art than science")
Present budgets to internal development teams and leadership
Collaborate with the Head of Purchasing & Estimating (procurement handled separately)
Partner directly with executive leadership on budget strategy and assumptions
Support preconstruction efforts across multiple multifamily projects
Qualifications
10+ years of experience as an Estimator with a General Contractor or owner-side construction group
Strong background in multifamily construction budgeting
Proven experience with conceptual and early-stage estimates
Comfortable working with evolving scopes and limited documentation
Strong communication skills and ability to explain budgets clearly
Stable work history and long-term mindset
