Director of Insurance & Risk - Construction
Affordable Housing Renovation and Rehabilitation
Role Summary
Leads insurance administration, risk management, and related legal coordination for construction operations. Ensures subcontractor and corporate insurance compliance, mitigates risk exposure, and supports efficient, compliant project execution.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the subcontractor insurance team.

Oversee high-volume insurance tracking, including COIs and endorsements.

Review subcontractor insurance policies to identify exclusions, coverage gaps, and risk exposure.

Resolve insurance deficiencies directly with subcontractors, brokers, and internal teams.

Ensure subcontractor coverage meets contractual, regulatory, and client requirements.

Manage corporate insurance renewals in coordination with executive leadership and brokers.

Oversee incident reporting and follow-up.

Manage active legal matters and support insurance claims and construction litigation, including document production and interrogatories.

Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and insurance reviews.

Lead risk mitigation and process improvement initiatives.

Advise leadership on urgent or emerging insurance and regulatory issues.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
-
OSHA-30
-
Strong knowledge of construction insurance and risk management

Excellent communication, judgment, and organizational skills
-
Ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven workflows in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency with construction systems; Timberline and Elation a plus
