Technical Sales Engineer, Commercial & Industrial Boiler Systems
Location: Mount Vernon, NY (territory: Manhattan & NYC Metro), hybrid

Pay: $80,000 - $100,000 base salary, plus uncapped commission - $250,000 on-target earnings (OTE)
An employee-owned heating contractor serving commercial and industrial clients is hiring a Technical Sales Engineer to grow its Aftermarket Parts and Service business across Manhattan and the NYC metro area. You'll quote and sell repair, upgrade, and aftermarket solutions based on what field technicians find during service visits, often packaged as kits, not cold-call new business. You'll inherit an existing territory and account base to manage and grow. This is a hands-on technical sales role for someone who already knows boilers, steam systems, or combustion equipment, a mechanical engineering degree is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Quote and sell repair, upgrade, and aftermarket solutions based on field technicians' on-site recommendations
- Develop technical solutions for boiler repairs, upgrades, and maintenance projects
- Review job site findings, equipment specs, and technician notes to prepare accurate, same-day quotes
- Support field technicians with same-day quotations while onsite
- Manage and grow relationships within your assigned territory and existing account base
- Negotiate and close repair/upgrade solutions, and oversee projects from quote through completion
- Coordinate with service, scheduling, purchasing, and project management teams to ensure successful execution
- Identify opportunities for larger capital equipment projects and collaborate with the sales team
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with commercial or industrial boilers, steam systems, combustion equipment, or similar heating/mechanical equipment, this is not an entry-level role
- Comfortable reviewing job site findings, equipment specs, and basic mechanical drawings to prepare accurate quotes
- Experience with CRM software and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable managing and growing an assigned account territory
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Background in technical sales, applications engineering, or service engineering
- Prior experience quoting repair or upgrade work off technician-identified recommendations
Compensation and Benefits
- $80,000 - $100,000 base salary
- $250,000 on-target earnings (OTE), uncapped commission - top performers have earned $200,000+ in commission alone
