A mechanical service company in the Bronx, serving plumbing, fire protection, pump, and motor systems, is hiring a Warehouse Manager to own material and equipment flow between the warehouse, vendors, and job sites. You'll receive, inspect, stage, and track everything coming in and going out, with the authority to hold back anything incomplete, damaged, or incorrect before it reaches a job. This is a hands-on, high-accountability role: the standard is control, visibility, and making sure nothing silently becomes a field problem.
Responsibilities
- Receive and verify all incoming material, equipment, and vendor deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips, flagging shortages, damage, or discrepancies immediately
- Organize and stage material by job so complete orders are easy to identify, and verify staged orders before they leave the warehouse
- Maintain accountability for company tools and equipment, inspecting everything before it goes into the field and holding back anything broken or incomplete
- Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and set up with clear areas for stock, staged material, returns, and damaged goods; run periodic physical inventory counts
- Coordinate daily pickups and deliveries with the Shop Driver, staging material in advance so routes run on schedule
- Process returns from job sites and coordinate vendor returns and credits with Purchasing
- Serve as the main point of contact for warehouse-related material and equipment questions from field supervisors, project managers, dispatch, and purchasing
- Communicate problems early, missing material, damaged equipment, or incomplete orders, before they impact a job
Required Qualifications
- Experience in warehouse, construction, mechanical contracting, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, or supply-house operations
- Working knowledge of plumbing/mechanical materials, fittings, valves, piping, tools, and equipment
- Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, and material lists
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable in a fast-paced construction/service environment
- Ability to safely lift and move construction materials and equipment
- Basic computer skills
Preferred
- Forklift or material-handling experience
- Valid driver's license
- Experience managing warehouse operations in a union environment or across multiple trades
Compensation and Benefits
- $90,000 - $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience
- Company benefits package
- Paid time off
- Long-term stability with an established mechanical service contractor
