Senior MEP Estimator, Heating & Plumbing Systems
Location: NYC & Westchester County, NY (in-person, with site visits as needed)
Job Type: Full-time, in-person

A licensed Master Plumber and General Contractor serving NYC and Westchester is hiring a Senior MEP Estimator to price heating and plumbing service and retrofit work. You'll turn field technician diagnostics and site conditions into accurate proposals covering labor, materials, and equipment, then guide customers through approval and scheduling. This is a senior seat with real ownership over the estimating process, not an entry-level bid desk.
Responsibilities
- Review field technician notes, diagnostic reports, photos, and service recommendations to scope proposals accurately
- Develop accurate estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and project scope for commercial heating, plumbing, and boiler service work
- Build clear, professional proposals aligned with company pricing standards
- Communicate proposals directly to customers and follow up to answer questions and close approvals
- Track proposal status and maintain organized records of pending, approved, and declined work
- Coordinate with dispatch, supervisors, and project managers to schedule approved jobs
- Confirm materials, permits, and project details are prepared before work begins
- Partner with technicians and service managers to validate recommendations and refine estimating processes
- Conduct site visits as needed to verify scope and conditions
- Maintain accurate records in the company's CRM and internal systems
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of MEP estimating experience, with a focus on commercial heating and plumbing systems service or retrofit work
- Strong knowledge of commercial boilers, heating, and plumbing systems and service scopes
- Ability to interpret technical diagnostics, service reports, and field documentation
- High attention to detail and accuracy in pricing and documentation
- Proficiency with estimating tools, CRM platforms, and standard office software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-first approach
- Ability to manage multiple proposals, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred
- Experience estimating for a service department (repair/retrofit work), not only new installation bids
- Familiarity with NYC-area mechanical codes and market conditions
- Experience mentoring or supporting less senior estimators
Compensation and Benefits
- $160,000 - $185,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
- 401(k) with company match
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid time off
- Long-term career growth with a growing mechanical and energy services company
